Fun Fall Activities For Kids

Fun Fall Activities For Kids

Posted by WinterKids on Friday, September 23, 2011

Happy first day of fall! Today marks the day when the leaves will start changing color, temperatures will start dropping, and football and soccer games and practices take over week nights and weekend mornings. This welcoming change, after a long, hot summer, brings about new activities that family members of all ages can participate in and have fun doing so. Whether you like to explore the outdoors during fall or you prefer to snuggle up inside, we have some recommendations you and your kids are sure to love.

Go Apple Picking Heading to an apple farm on a Sunday afternoon is a great way to get outdoors with you children and enjoy fall's beautiful weather. Many farms even offer hay rides and corn mazes to add to the fun. All of that plus hot cider, the fresh smell of apples, and crisp fall air...who doesn't love apple picking?!

Pick a Pumpkin at a Pumpkin Patch

Like apple picking, picking out a pumpkin (or two!) for your house is always a fun family activity. Choosing to go to a pumpkin patch to get a pumpkin rather than getting one at your local market is way more fun, because pumpkins generally range in sizes from super small to super large and you can take home whichever one you like!

Bake a Yummy Casserole at Home

On a rainy and windy afternoon, the only place you may want to venture out to is the grocery store. While you're there, pick up these ingredients to make this super tasty and kid-friendly Bacon Cheeseburger Bake. Kids will enjoy helping cook this extra-cheesy and easy-to-make casserole, and of course will enjoy eating it too!

Take A Scenic Drive to See Fall Foliage

Pack up the car with some sandwiches, snacks, and water, and you and your family will be good to go for a scenic drive to check out the fall foliage. Route out your trip beforehand so you are sure to hit the most beautiful spots, and bring a blanket so you and your family can eat a picnic lunch at a spot of your choice.

Whether you spend your weekends finding new outdoor adventures, or you prefer to relax at the house baking new yummy recipes, we guarantee that the kids will have fun no matter what. When you do spend time outdoors, though, it's best to be prepared for chilly fall weather with warm fleece jackets for boys and girls!
