The days are slowly starting to get longer again but there’s still plenty of winter left! While there are many outdoor activities to enjoy in the snow, you can’t beat the classic of flying down a hill on a contraption, be it a fancy tube or a simple plastic sled. Here are some of the best sledding hills in the U.S.
Ruby Hill Denver, CO
Ruby Hill provides a great snow activity oasis in the middle of Denver. The free sledding hill is sure to please. There is also a ski and snowboard terrain park at Ruby Hill so, your kids can practice their skills without you hauling them up to the ski resorts. There’s a pavilion with views of the city to take a break for a picnic lunch and a playground for when the sledding hill may be a bit crowded.

The Frisco Adventure Park in Frisco, Colorado (near Keystone and Breckenridge) provides many activities all year long. In the winter, there is a multi-lane tubing hill equipped with a conveyer belt lift to save time and energy hauling the tube back up the hill. Reservations must be made in advance for this hill so be prepared!

Timberlee Hills in Grand Traverse, Michigan is known for being giant and holding true to the old-school ways of the sled hill-no lanes, just one giant hill to fly down and across. This affordable hill provides single and double tubes as well as a tow system for relaxing all the way back to the top of the hill.
This tubing park is located at Mad River Mountain in Zanesfield, Ohio. The Avalanche has ten lanes, two conveyor belt lifts, and a base lodge equipped with a snack bar. AND it has late operating hours for twilight tubing. Some nights you can enjoy the hill all the way until midnight!

Adventure Mountain can be found near Lake Tahoe, California. This park offers free sledding with an entry fee of $30 per car. Don’t have your own sled to bring? No problem, they have sleds and tubes for rent as well as snowshoes for an alternative snowy activity!
Make sure that everyone is bundled up and appropriately dressed for a sledding adventure. Sledding is done at a lower platform and creates more possibility for snow to hit the face. Keep your kids face and neck warm with these great options.
