Summer Ski Resort Activities

Besides the few resorts that are able to extend their season deep into spring, most have called it a wrap on the 2016-2017 ski and snowboard season. The snow is quickly melting away to make room for spring growth. It won’t be long though until resorts start the lifts back up for the summer season! Here are some activities the whole family can partake in at ski resorts in the summer.
Hiking
Perhaps an obvious choice, hiking around a ski resort mountain can bring a whole new perspective to the environment. With lush green instead of blankets of white, explore new parts of the mountain that you may not normally get to on skis. Hike all the way to the peak for some great views!
Mountain Bike
It’s become popular for resorts to allow access to mountain bikes in the summer with well kept, mountain bike specific trails. Challenge yourself by riding up on your bike to the top before the speedy decent or hop on a lift with your bike for a less tiring approach.
Adventure Centers
There are multiple opportunities for an adrenaline rush on the mountain. Zip lines, bungee trampolines and climbing walls are just a few options that many resorts offer to get the blood running.
Alpine Slide
Get the similar feeling as skiing or sledding down the hill in the summer! Alpine slides are a fun way to cruise down the slopes in shorts and sunglasses.
Horseback Riding
There’s no better way to explore the mountain than atop a faithful friend. Horseback rides give you a relaxing way to adventure through the woods. Many times with the slow, silent travel on the horses you’ll be able to see wildlife in their natural habitat.
Live Music
With the longer days and warm weather, there are countless opportunities to catch some live, outdoor music at resorts. Many have weekly performances as well as special ones for events such as the 4th of July.
Just because the snow is gone, doesn’t mean resorts should be taken off of your family vacation destination list! The mountains are a beautiful, relaxing way to beat the heat of the city. And with plenty of stuff to do, everyone will find something to keep them happy.
